Ocean times for environmental protection
As a new hotel on the East Frisian North Sea, we see it as our duty to play an exemplary role in environmental protection. An innovative and efficient overall energy concept has been developed for our hotel. This system sustainably reduces the consumption of fossil resources and is a step towards a cleaner future. Ecologically degradable cleaning agents and waste avoidance are very important to us.
We kindly ask our guests to actively support us with our in-house campaign "ÖKO?LOGISCH!" (room cleaning).

To protect the environment, we produce and use electricity from our in-house PV system. This system helps us to avoid excessive electricity consumption.
Our ecological green roof with an area of approx. 400 square meters is not only beautiful to look at, it also protects the building from extreme heat during the summer months and insulates against the cold in winter. This significantly reduces heating costs and improves the ecological footprint. In addition, our green roof is a paradise for small animals and insects, helping to prevent the extinction of bees, for example.
We use almost exclusively biodegradable cleaning agents and avoid plastic packaging for our products wherever possible. The remaining amount of waste is made aware of and constantly reduced through consistent employee training in this area. Waste is consistently sorted and, where possible, completely avoided in individual areas.

Two modern ventilation systems with high heat recovery rates are operated, which adjust the required air volumes to the respective requirements. Our hotel is heated by a modern hybrid heating system consisting of two state-of-the-art air-to-water heat pumps and a gas condensing boiler. The heat pumps make sustainable use of environmental heat energy from the ambient air. The heat generated is used for the classic radiators and underfloor heating. The two Weishaupt WWP LA 60-A R heat pumps, each with an output of 35 kW, cover around 85% of the total heat generated for heating and domestic hot water. Peak loads are covered by the gas condensing boiler, which uses the condensation heat of the exhaust gas.
Our central refrigeration system, which also works with heat recovery, uses the waste heat generated during cold storage and deep-freeze refrigeration. This is used to support the production of hot water.
The entire building has been insulated to KfW 55 standard. All windows have triple glazing and some are also fitted with thermal insulation glazing and electric automatic sun blinds.
Help us to protect the environment and invest the money you save in sustainable environmental projects. With your option to reduce and self-define the change of linen and room cleaning, costs are saved, which we donate 1 to 1 to certified environmental projects and companies. We will report in detail on the amount of the donations and the company once a year.
For environmental reasons, disposable slippers are only issued on request at reception. An innovation in the production of these slippers is that they are now completely compostable.
As a new hotel directly on the East Frisian North Sea coast, we see it as our duty to play an exemplary role in environmental protection. We kindly ask our guests to actively support us in this.
